Ourika Valley
The Ourika Valley is a valley in the Moroccan High Atlas located approximately 60 km south-east of Marrakech. The Valley is mainly populated by people who speak Berber and the Chleuh dialect. Despite its proximity to Marrakech, it is still considered a relatively preserved valley, both for its nature and its traditional mountain lifestyle. After a short drive from Marrakech to the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, you will pass through a succession of mountain villages where you will have the chance to see wonderful landscapes full of vibrant colors as you move through the hills. This valley is one of the greenest, most beautiful and fertile in the area, with large cultivation terraces among which fruit and olive trees stand out. The panorama is an incredible succession of natural elements that flow in this valley, under the great mountain. The sound of water flowing through the river completes an experience of peace and relaxation. Setti-Fatma, is the small town in the area and starting point for trekking activities. A guide will accompany you to discover the river waterfalls. In total there are 7 of which the first is easily accessible and allows you to discover what this location can offer, however you can continue the route and continue until you see the remaining 6 going deeper into the mountain. The route is not of an advanced level...a bit of adventure and a few jumps here and there. Along the path that the river has formed in its journey, there are several restaurants and cafes to refresh yourself and enjoy some typical Berber dishes.
